Hole in Heart in Adult Female Operation
Heart Hole or A Congenital Heart Defect such as the Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) is a defect that causes a hole in the wall between the heart’s upper chambers (Atria), or Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) that causes a hole in the heart’s ventricles. This defect arises by birth, or in other words, this is a congenital defect. According to Cardiologists in Ranchi, this can be corrected through a VSD surgery even before the condition worsens.
Causes and Symptoms
A Congenital Heart Defect, or simply known as a heart hole is one that comes by birth. Some inherit this defect through genetic diseases or disorders like Down’s Syndrome. Some get this defect during pregnancy when the adult female is exposed to certain substances that can cause this defect such as medications, diabetes, and Rubella.
Some of the most common symptoms include:
- Shortness of breath
- Tiredness
- Cyanosis
- Heart Murmurs
- Arrhythmias
- Swelling of the extremities
And so on…
All of these symptoms are similar to that of other heart diseases like Heart Attack and many other lung diseases. Hence, doctors find it difficult to determine whether the patient has a heart hole or a heart attack. Until a complete MRI Scan determines the cause, we cannot differentiate them.
Types of Heart Holes
ACD or Adult Congenital Defect can be of two types based on the location of the hole. If found in the atria, then it is an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) or Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), if found in the ventricles.
Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)
The Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) occurs when the heart hole is found either in the right upper chamber or in the left upper chamber. As mentioned before, this is acquired during birth. ASD can be cured by performing a surgery to close the hole present in the upper chambers.
Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)
The Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) occurs when the heart hole is found either in the right ventricle or in the left ventricle. This defect can be corrected by performing VSD surgery which involves the process of performing surgery to close the hole present in either of the ventricles.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Before performing the surgery, we need to make sure that proper diagnosis has been done. Some of the diagnosis measures to be taken include,
- Echocardiogram
- Electrocardiogram
- Chest X-Rays
- MRI Scan
- Stress Testing
- Coronary Catheterization
And so on…
These are some of the most important diagnoses to be made.
According to the Cardio Surgeons in Ranchi, the ACD can be treated by either of the following methods:
- By slowing the heartbeat using beta-blockers
- By helping to relax the blood vessels using calcium channel blockers
- VSD Surgery
- ASD Surgery
- Heart Transplant
- Angioplasty
- Valve Replacement
And so on…
To conclude, carrying a heart hole with you since the day you were born is not advisable and pregnant women must protect themselves from genetic disorders and diseases until the baby is born. Even if that doesn’t work, then we can fix this defect during the early stages of its occurrence and prevent it from further complications.
